The National Gallery of Art in Sopot is the local government institution financed by the City of Sopot. During the year the Gallery organizes over 20 exhibitions and other activities (The National Art Gallery is co-organizer of the ARTLOOP festival, OSA, and is the organizer of the International Bipolar Performers Meeting in Sopot) and a series of meetings with intellectuals and people from the art world entitled ‘Porozmawiajmy’ (Let’s talk). The National Art Gallery cooperates with other educational exhibitions from Poland and abroad and its work has been recognized by local and international media. The National Gallery of Art in Sopot was ranked at the 4th place in 2015 in the ranking of the best modern art institutions best exhibition institutions in Poland, organized by "Polityka" magazine.
The most important projects realized so far are Jacek Malczewski and the exhibition ‘Masterpieces of Polish Painting’ from the collection of the Lviv National Art Gallery; the work of Ivan Trush, ‘Metamorphoses’ by Georges Braque, the ‘Russian Avant-Garde’, international photograph exhibitions. The National Art Gallery also places great emphasis on showing the most important phenomena in contemporary art, so it has also been possible to see the work of Robert Kuśmirowski, Nicolas Grospierre, Janek Simon, Oskar Dawicki, Agatha Bogacka, Zbigniew Libera and Wojciech Bąkowski .
The National Art Gallery also focuses on educational activities and publishing.
